epay distributes products and services over our secure electronic platform in two forms;
e-Voucher e-top-up
e-Vouchers are thermal receipts distributed via retailers' epay terminals and retailers' point-of-sale retail (POS) hardware. After receiving payment from a customer, retail staff prints a thermal voucher for the customer. Printed onto the voucher are secret redemption codes (PINs) to activate the product, along with the product or provider's logo, any expiry dates, the transaction tracking information, as well as the product instructions, terms and conditions and customer service numbers.
PINs are generated in bulk by product suppliers, then encrypted and sent to epay. epay receives these PINs on consignment and manages the electronic distribution to retailers and billing once sales are made.
Magnetic Swipe-Card-based products provide a similar function to e-Vouchers with the added potential for ongoing recharge, transaction and point of sale swipe card redemption processing (rather than entering in a redemption / PIN code). The cards are activated in real-time at the POS and hold no value until activated through the terminal. Hence there is no risk of theft, or shrinkage.
E-top-up transactions are used to distribute a variety of applications. Some of these applications include: calling cards, branded gift cards, Visa® Prepaid, bill payment, prepaid electricity, money transfer, transport solutions and various prepaid cards. E-top-up cards can be redeemed online, over the phone or at physical outlets.
For products that require redemption codes / PINs, the characters are printed behind scratch panels. Some cards also feature security PIN codes, signature panels and barcodes.
